The couple held their wedding on Saturday, November 7, at PalmWood Event & Conference, on the 13th floor of 640 Taylor Street in downtown Fort Worth. The room is wrapped in glass, so the city lights sit behind every table once the sun goes down. We ran the whole day for them: ceremony sound, cocktail hour music, the reception and the DJ set that closed out the night.

Ceremony sound for vows, poems and a harpist
For the ceremony we set up an EV ZLX8P speaker and put a Shure ULXD bodypack with a lapel microphone on the officiant. It ran through our AI-powered De-Feedback system, which keeps a lapel mic clear of feedback even when the officiant steps toward the speaker. The officiant sounded great, and the bride and groom each read a poem that carried clearly to every row of seats.
The processional music came from a harpist. We put a condenser microphone on the harp and brought it into the speaker, so the wedding party waiting at the door heard their walk-in music from inside the venue and timed their entrances to it.
Cocktail hour on the couple’s own playlist
Cocktail hour ran on the same EV speaker, fed from a MacBook Pro playing the couple’s 26-song cocktail playlist in lossless audio. The bartenders were a friendly crew, and one of them plays guitar in a band, so we traded live music stories between rounds.
We programmed twelve uplights on a Wolfmix controller and started the night in white and warm amber, which kept the room soft and elegant through cocktails and dinner.

A grand entrance to Porter Robinson’s “Language”
The couple chose Porter Robinson’s “Language” for their grand entrance. Every guest grabbed a napkin and waved it overhead as the two of them danced their way onto the dance floor.
Dinner, toasts and the first dance
After dinner came the speeches and toasts, and they were heartwarming from the first one to the last. Then the couple took the floor for their first dance.

Opening the dance floor on the XDJ-AZ
When the dance floor opened, I started the night on a Pioneer XDJ-AZ, working from the couple’s 40-song reception playlist. The sound was a pair of BassBoss DV12 tops with a BassBoss SSP118 subwoofer underneath, which gave the floor full, punchy low end with clear vocals on top.

At the same time, the uplights switched from white and amber to color synced to the music, changing with every beat and drop.
Laser animations on the ceiling
For the open dance floor we aimed a laser at the ceiling, projecting colorful animations synced to the music. The white ceiling at PalmWood made a great canvas: beams, rings and spirals moved across it over the guests’ heads all night.

The last hour went all EDM
The couple also built a playlist of the drops they love, and the last hour was all EDM: their picks plus a few of my personal favorites. The floor stayed packed right through to the final song.
A team that made the night easy
The PalmWood management and security team were friendly and easy to work with, and the wedding coordinators were organized and kept everyone on the timeline. I loved the vibe of this one and was very happy to meet everyone. By the end of the night it felt like family.
