What a monogram projector rental includes

A monogram projector rental from us is a design job and an install job in one. You send us your names, your date and any artwork you already have. We build the projection file, email you a proof, and change it until you approve it. On the day of the event we bring the projector, the stand or clamp and the cable run, put the fixture where the beam is clean, and focus the design on the wall you picked.

The fixture is a laser projector rather than a lamp projector. That matters twice over. It reproduces a full color file, so a gold monogram stays gold and a watercolor floral keeps its pinks and greens. It also runs cool and quiet, so it can sit ten feet from a guest table for six hours, quiet, and run the whole reception on one lamp.

A technician handles every part of it, from the proof to the focus. If the venue moves your head table an hour before doors, we move the projector and refocus the design.

Most of our monogram installs go in alongside sound and other event lighting, which is why there is a speaker standing next to the projector in this photo. If you are already looking at uplighting rentals or a full lighting package, the monogram goes on the same quote and arrives in the same load-in.

Monogram lighting rental: the room's light level decides how it reads

Every company in Dallas will tell you their projector is bright. The projector is rarely the variable. The room is.

These two photos are the same wall in the same ballroom. On the left the chandeliers and house lights are at full, and the monogram is there but soft. So the useful question is about timing rather than lumens: when does your monogram need to read clearly? For most weddings that is after dinner, when the venue drops the house lights for dancing anyway. Tell us the moment you care about and we aim and focus for that moment. For a cocktail hour under full house lights, we will say so up front and point the design at a darker wall.

A monogram is its own light source, separate from whatever is washing the walls. In this clip the uplighting cycles from lavender through amber over about eight seconds while the white monogram holds steady the whole time.

That independence is the practical reason to book monogram lighting rental and uplighting together. You can pick a wall color for cocktails, a second one for dinner and a third for the dance floor, and the names stay as designed through all three.

It is a light rather than a screen, so it adds the design to the room and stays out of your photos.

Weddings

Most of the monograms we project are for weddings, and a wedding monogram can be far more than two initials in a circle. One couple this June used three lines: a phrase they had been saying all year, their names, and their date, with a heart and a filigree rule under it. Another put their names and the date under a crest. A third went with a gold serif monogram inside a double ring with watercolor peonies and eucalyptus around it.

If you have a logo, a crest, a family mark or a piece of artwork from your invitation suite, we can project that too. That is the same answer for a wedding logo projector as it is for a corporate one, and it is why the phrase wedding logo projection exists at all. Anything that can be drawn can be a gobo.

Where it goes is your call between a wall and a ceiling. A wall behind the head table is the usual choice, because it lands in every photo of the toasts and it holds the whole design all night. Ceiling projection works in rooms with a flat light-colored ceiling and gives you the effect when the walls are spoken for. This one is a February wedding in a mission-style hall with dark wood trusses and pointed arches. The crest monogram sits high on the white wall over a packed dance floor and holds while purple and green DJ effects wash across the whole room.

That is worth knowing if you are booking a monogram and dance floor lighting on the same event. Put the monogram above the height of the effects and it keeps reading all night, which is also the reason we ask where your DJ is setting up before we choose the wall.

Gobo projection

Gobo, custom gobo monogram and full color laser projection

Gobo is the trade word for the same thing. Here is what it means and why the file we build looks so different from the proof you approve.

A gobo is the disc that sits in front of a light and cuts the beam into a shape. When a lighting company says custom gobo monogram, they mean what a bride means by wedding monogram: your design, put up as light. The difference between an old gobo and what we run is color. A cut metal gobo gives you one color, usually white. A laser projector reproduces a full color file, so the design on the left below is projected on the right with its gold rings and its watercolor florals intact.

That second frame is also a daylight test, and we are showing it on purpose. The design on painted siding in the afternoon is soft and low in contrast. Outdoors a projected monogram needs full dark and a light-colored surface to land on, so an outdoor gobo projection is a post-sunset item on the timeline.

The pair below is the part clients ask about right after they approve a proof. What you sign off on is black artwork on a cream background, because that is how a design reads on a screen and on paper. The projection file is the inverse of it: white artwork on transparent. A projector adds light, so wherever your design is dark on the proof, the projection file has to be empty. We build both files, we show you both, and the thing on the wall matches the thing you approved.

Ceremony use is possible in a dark chapel or an evening tent, and it is worth talking through early because ceremony spaces are usually brighter than reception spaces.

Corporate logo projection puts your mark on a stage wall, a lobby wall or a ballroom wall for the length of the event, and the banner stays in the truck. Send us a vector logo and we will match the color, or send a sponsor lockup and we will lay it out.

Birthdays, anniversaries, quinces, retirements and graduations. A name and a number, a school mark, a pattern, or a line the guest of honor is known for. In a room with dark walls a repeating pattern reads better than a single large mark.

Backyard and rented-hall parties work fine as long as there is a surface and the room can get dark. Private event services covers sound and the rest of the lighting.

How the design process works

Four steps, and only one of them is yours.

Send us what you have

Names, date, venue, and any artwork from your invitations or your brand kit. A photo of the wall helps. A rough idea is enough to start.

We draw the proof

Our designer draws your custom monogram and emails a proof: black artwork on cream, sized to the wall you named. You see it before anything is cut or programmed.

You approve it

Two rounds of changes are normal, and the timeline is comfortable as long as we have approved artwork about a week before the event. Then we build the inverted projection file.

We install and focus

A technician places the projector, aims it, focuses the edges and checks the design against the room light. We stay through the start of the event and adjust if the room changes.

What is a monogram projector?

A monogram projector is a lighting fixture that puts a custom design, usually your names and date or a company logo, onto a wall or a ceiling. The design lives in a file we build for you, and the projector shows it as light rather than as a printed sign.

Can the monogram be more than our initials?
