A pair of powered 12 inch or 15 inch tops on stands covers a room this size with headroom left over. Height is what matters more than box count here: speakers up on poles put the sound over people's heads instead of into the back of whoever is standing in front of them. The trap at this size is a rig set too loud for a small space, which is why we set the level standing at the far end of the room rather than behind the gear.

This is where most DFW receptions and company parties land, and it is the point where a subwoofer stops being optional. Once a dance floor fills, bodies absorb low end, and a pair of tops on their own start working hard to make up for it. Adding a sub takes that job off the tops, so the vocals stay clear while the floor gets its weight. It is also the point where the low end wants a circuit of its own, and we work that out with the venue before the date instead of at load in.

At this size a single pair of tops in one corner leaves the far end of the room guessing. Four tops let us cover a long or wide space evenly, so the people by the bar hear the same mix as the people on the floor. Two subs placed together also couple, which gives deeper and more even bass across the dance floor rather than one hot spot in the middle of it. This is the size where we start asking for a dedicated power drop rather than sharing with the caterer.

Past four hundred people a pole mounted top runs out of reach, and the conversation moves to line array speaker rental with a sub block underneath. Outdoors the sound has open air to fill, so the box count goes up and the arrangement matters as much as the number: speakers can be aimed so the sound lands on the crowd and stays off the neighbors. Guest count is only half the sizing question. A jazz trio and a house set with the same hundred people in the room want different rigs, because in one the bass supports the music and in the other the bass is the music. It is a well behaved speaker for spoken word and for music, which makes it a good fit for an event that has a ceremony, a set of toasts and then a dance floor. Box Powered 18 inch sub · the building block under any of the tops above
The SSP118 is the sub we mean when we say one sub or two subs in the sizing list. A single 18 inch box that reaches deeper and holds level better than a typical rental sub of the same size, which usually means fewer boxes on the truck for the same result in the room. It is also the easiest sub here to scale: start with one, add a second when the room grows, and you get more impact while the low end keeps its character.

Speaker rentals for parties are the other half of what goes out from this page. A birthday in a backyard, a quinceanera, a graduation, an anniversary, a company holiday party: the gear is the same family of powered speakers, and what changes is how much of it and where it goes. We deliver it, put it up, tune it to the space, sound check it and come back for it after the party, so the host spends the night at their own party.
Most party rentals also want two things past music. A single venue circuit will not carry a full rig plus a caterer plus lighting. We work the circuits out with the venue in advance and bring distro when the room needs it.
We carry more than the plan calls for. If a room turns out to be bigger, louder or more open than the walkthrough suggested, the extra speaker is already there.
